Rodrigo Moreno has spent over 30 years documenting Lawrence Heights,
capturing its transformation from a vibrant community to one undergoing
gentrification and displacement. What began as a Social Documentary
Photography class project in 1992 evolved into a long-term exploration.
Moreno’s triptych series—developed through three instalments in 1992,
the early 2000s, and around 2020—revisits the same subjects, blending
intimate portraits, urban landscapes, and symbolic details to reflect both
the physical and emotional impact of revitalization. His on going project
reconnects with these individuals, offering a powerful narrative of
community, loss, resilience, and the complexities of urban renewal. Below
are seven examples.
